Tucson Photoshoot Tips for Summer Sessions

Tucson summers are hot but that doesn’t mean you can’t take photos! There are many locations (and studios) that keep you out of the desert heat! Planning a photoshoot in the summer just takes a bit of extra care as far as locations, timing, and outfits go.

Timing

A great way to avoid the heat is simply to plan your photoshoot for earlier in the day. Dawn offers much cooler temperatures and the same soft lighting as dusk does. This is a great option if you still want a desert photoshoot in the summer. Temperatures in the morning can be 20-30 degrees cooler than the evening.

Studios

Outfit Suggestions

It’s best to wear lightweight breathable fabrics that don’t show sweat in the summer. Think natural fabrics like cotton or linen instead of heavy “winter” fabrics like velvet, leather or wool. Final Thoughts

While it’s undeniable that the Tucson heat is intense…it doesn’t mean you should wait to preserve your memories. Precious moments worth celebrating happen even when it’s hot. Planning a photoshoot in the Tucson summer just requires a little more intention.

Sometimes the monsoon clouds make it all worth it.
